Take a Hike

 It's all uphill from here

So I set out for my morning walk, secure in the knowledge that I am fit as a result of daily treks and am soon hoping to find not an electric car charging station but an oxygen terminal.

Ennistimon lies at the bottom of a valley and it's all uphill from wherever the bottom is, though I suspect it is the River Cullenagh, which merges with River Derry and then changes names to River Inagh and runs to the Atlantic (a few scant miles away).  I was under the impression that only streets changed names.  In Boston.  Or Cleveland.

Once I got myself to the apex of the hill overlooking the village, the views were wondrous.

The following photo looks out towards Lahinch and the Atlantic.  Many years ago I was part of a group of golfers touring great Irish courses and was extremely proud to have played (survived) Lahinch Golf Club while it was raining sideways.  Looks better as of this moment.

And the flowers...oh the hydrangeas.

So much natural beauty.

  1. What a great start to you trip. I think you are finding what you hoped for including the blue hydrangeas. A timeless place.

  2. If you get turned around on a hike, look for the Motion W flag. They’ll offer a cold beer and a ride home.

  3. How marvelous. You be an Irish tour guide before too long

  4. I so look forward to your posts. You are truly living a dream. Maybe you could rent a donkey and cart for those hills. You must have some equine knowledge from your uncle Russ.
