Just a wee stretch of the legs

The Old Glen Walk.  Breadcrumbs necessary.

I don't know how old Glen is but he's in damn fine shape for his age.

Sunday morning, post breakfast at  a 5 table cafe and I think I'll amble on down to the falls for a visual treat.  Somewhere along the way I heard people talking about walking the loop.  This, presumably means it comes back to its original stepping off point.   Silly you.

The "loop" starts at the falls and swings around behind the big hotel and spa (fittingly named the Falls Hotel) so I had that way.  The trail wove around to the right in quick fashion so the prospect of a short walk seemed reasonable.  Behind the hotel, I picked up The Old Glen Walk.  OMG: gorgeous.

At some point I realized this was approaching 50 minutes or so, but the path only went one way.  Finally I came up out of the forest to a road by a farm that (JB, this is for you) did NOT have a Badger flag flying, indicating "friendlies" inside.  Which was certainly not the dog who was guarding the driveway to the farmhouse.  After sending up the "stranger approaching" alarm, the lady of the house came out to see what all the fuss was about.  And once again, I am asking for directions from a truly nice person.  Turns out I was on the road back to town, only about a five minute winding hilly walk with no road shoulders and once again, managed to remain unscathed.

Old Glen Photos:

Did I ever figure where the "loop" is?  No.  But what a glorious vista.

  1. You do have a great ability to find helpful strangers. When you can do that, you’re never lost. Beautiful area!

  2. You weren't lost, you were just exploring.

  3. As any man in my family who refuses to stop for directions would say, 'I'm not lost, just taking the scenic route.' Keep taking the scenic way.
